you can use jwt or passport
for api auth
or even Airlock if your laravel version is 7
the best option is passport yet, the only one problem is that if you try to define the keys as evironment variables there is a bug (i dont know it it is fixed) that try to find the path to the file and not the content while the documentation says is the content what you have to define into the env var

i have a whole group of microservices depending on an accounts service that provides JWT since two years. It is a bit difficult to migrate just now 😂

For Laravel with vue app
i would recommend you to use an external service like pusher and use it from your laravel (integrated out of the box)

it depends. The better tool is the tool that let you work less and better. I would choose, may be, websocket for being the future as standard but it depends on yous skills 🙂

yes, unfortunnately it is a bit hard coded than a rest api but with push notifications, your servers would feel better and more cold haha
