Hello everyone, I want to ask a question about API Development.

I want to create a Public API where the mobile application which I am developing will consume it.

But I want to allow only my mobile app users which means only the person who downloads the app from google play or apple store will be able to connect to API so, somehow I needed to protect it.

Anyone have an idea how to do it?

I guess you can define a constant in your mobile application which will be hidden always and only if that token comes only then show data else show error

what about, if anyone sniffs the application and gets the hidden constant ? 🙁 Then the API will be exposed.

Is there any file which can be hidden or not to be extracted if someone extract your code. Like laravel have .env file

it doesn’t matter because, the key will be send through API call, and anyone who listening the network can easily get the key

in many-to-many relationship, your pivot table may contain extra fields, and even extra relationships to other Model. Then generate a separate Pivot Model, and specify it in belongsToMany() with ->using() method. Then you could do magic like in example.
