I will have to write an api inside the role control, right?

It is general best to code your app around permissions, to add you could add permissions during token creation and verify with laravel built in can method at the middleware as earlier stated by @anujrock1

Hello guys, I’m trying to implement a ride sharing app, like uber using Laravel as Backend.

I have a few challenges and I’d love help from you guys. I’m trying to improve my Laravel skills by trying more difficult personal projects.

1. How do I set zoning – to set a particular zone where the services are available. If the user is out of service area, they should be notified once they open the app.

2. Real-time rider and driver location update. I know how to implement this using firebase but I want to try with Laravel.

3. Setting up driver availability depending on their car type.

Hi Devs
Am looking for a solution
An cloud backup platform for the entire org.
Where each employee can back up folders from their computers.
The platform should have an admin who can assign roles to who can access what folder(permission)

Any recommendations will be appreciated

Thanks

1. Try google maps API it gives you the locale, neighbourhood etc. Which you can use as the zone. You can call the service from laravel

2. Should consider fire base as a service together with laravel. Store the UID on Laravel. And use to look up firebase. Otherwise try ping your laravel server every 20 seconds ish. To update the location. The proper way would be to use a streaming service on Kafka. Like Uber.

3. You have the car type which people can register with? So that’s ok they can toggle I suppose?

Thanks @hellodelloarlo. I was already considering your suggestion number 2. I mean firebase and Laravel together.

As for 3, in uber, you can book and xl, pool, mini, or so. Depending on which option you select, the driver corresponding to that option gets the request broadcast. I was just curious to know how to group request options.

Imagine I want my service to be available to users in Los Angeles, how would the neighbourhood api help me solve that.

Hmm it might be good to also consolidate which vehicle type are in the area. So when user gets shown the request screen. It has the list of avail vehicles to book. Then the user has the option to choose which one is near or preferred.

Your question is very broad man. I suppose you are targeting mobile app? If so you can already enable location services. Then if they are in the area then they can access your service. It’s done in app side. But laravel can also have some extra validation

hellodelloarlo 2022-05-08 17:44:32
You can also achieve the same effect on mobile browser through PWA btw but people can spoof etc. but for portfolio piece it will still be nice

Yes, sorry I didn’t point that out. The location implementation is on the app side. Laravel is only used to set the zones which is why I want to know how to set the zones

I would suggest laravel to take the drivers location and make a sort of registry. Who’s available and which vehicle and where they are, And which zone. Then it will get updated when new drivers log in. Or if they sign out. Again firebase or something else. would actually be better for this. I’m not sure how well laravel can stream or keep an open connection.

Then when the user in the area logs in, they can see which are available and how long till they get there from where he is.

Google maps gives you the distance tracking API also so you don’t need to implement some fancy algorithm 😂 the genius at google has already done it.

No problem

So my idea is to do this on firebase and pull the same data to Laravel…. 🤷🏿‍♂️
