Is it possible to set a limit for lock tables, a period after which the table must be automatically unlocked in case an error occurred before manual unlock tables command?

Yeap i did them and also i wanna normalize date column coz date column data may repeat..

From personal experience dont do this… it can become hell.. Leave dates as they are

jurgen_dd 2021-05-08 15:15:08
Creating table of dates, with primary key for each date… Ugh… hell…
hdy1t 2021-05-08 15:15:40
Okk i won’t do it
hdy1t 2021-05-08 15:15:46
Many thanks for your time

Many thanks for your time

You are welcome… you can also put dates to be automatic, so you dont really worry about it …

hdy1t 2021-05-08 15:16:35
How?
jurgen_dd 2021-05-08 15:17:43
CURDATE(), CURTIME() functions
jurgen_dd 2021-05-08 15:18:04
So if someone downloads song right now…DBMS will fill in exact time for you
jurgen_dd 2021-05-08 15:18:45
Oh explore NOW() as well
hdy1t 2021-05-08 15:18:59
That’s cool

Thank u

Hi friends, I’m working on mysql tables and I have a question. If the data of a column is empty, will there be a problem for normalization or not?

No, there will not be.

You can’t normalize a column (field). It is a table that you can normalize. One column can’t be normalized.

DECLARE count int
SET count = 0

WHILE count <= x
BEGIN
INSERT INTO [TABLE]
(…column list…)
VALUES
(…VALUES (could include the count here as a primary key))

SET count = count + 1
END

Hi friends, if anyone answer my question i’ll be so glad.. Do i have to normalize all columns that have repeating values?
JordanErifried 2021-05-09 23:28:24

Hi friends, if anyone answer my question i’ll be so glad.. Do i have to normalize all columns that have repeating values?

Show us an example please

hdy1t 2021-05-10 04:50:05
For example i have time column its values like 02:30 (second) and there are repeating values in this column so should i normalize this column like artist column has repeating values, too?

Artist Song Album Time
X Y. xxx x 02:30
X Y. yyy y 03:21
A B. zzz z 02:30

I’ll create artistID. Is it necessary to create timeID?

I hope i could explain

No, these are just equal values.
No need for normalisation here.

It’s like John as name in John Lennon and John Tolkien

And the key idea here is that you time depends on the key of your table, witch is (artist, song, album) , doesn’t depends on Song, part of the key

Because even same song sung by several different artists in different albums can last different time.

There is no real need to lock tables at all, don’t use this feature, use transactions

I’m using lock tables because several users will write on some same tables. I’m using mysql as back-end for LibreOffice base and I don’t know if transactions can do it since I don’t master them.
