What should be the ideal size of innodb_log_buffer_size if the database instance is of 1.1 tb and innodb_log_buffer_size is set to 12gb.
Can anyone one help
svart 2021-07-08 07:57:39
Did not get the question. You already set log-buffer-size. In general, this setting does not have anything in common with database size. Size of the lo buffer size should be set based on amount of changes generated by upserts. Usually, it should be able to store at least “1h of changes” and split to at least 2 files

I have column “description” in table in MySQL database. Type for that column is longtext. However, when i want to write something in that column, MySQL changes type to varchar(255) and I have error “Data too long for column ‘description’ at row 1”. Does anyone know how to keep type longtext without MySQL changing it?

No I have not yet set the new value it’s as of now default
This is a highly active transactional system
So I was wondering if setting to a higher value will give performance a boost

It won’t give any boost. Larger log size implies longer recovery after a crash, too small could cause stalls

mysql obviously can’t access the file (it is in the home folder of other user) place it somewhere else like /var/lib/mysql-keyring/ and grant mysql access to files there

INSERT INTO employee (userID, userName, email, salary) VALUES

(296, ‘test 1’, ‘test@gmail.com’, 20000), (297, ‘test 2’, ‘test2@gmail.com’, 30000)

ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE salary = VALUES (salary)

=> userID, userName, email column is unique

Same Query i want in oracle

DUPLICATE KEY will not work in oracle, it’s there any other solution with example of above query

You definitely can write two statement transaction to do this, and you can even write a stored procedure with this transaction.

Oracle: how to UPSERT (update or insert into a table?)Stack Overflow
The UPSERT operation either updates or inserts a row in a table, depending if the table already has a row that matches the data:

if table t has a row exists that has key X:
update t set mystuf…
