The key is not the secret you can share it publicly. And if u somehow secure it still. There is possibility to expose it over network requests there is something called “secret” which should be secure

To learn with models is always good practice.
Seniors didn’t used it because they are vanilla php developers before, and they just don’t want to learn new thing.

Sneha, if ur new to mvc then start with CI then laravel. If ur are familiar with mvc go with both. I use both as per the client / project requirements.
Some old developer don’t know about mvc pattern so they write code without using proper controllers / models thats incorrect approach.
